While my cats were very intrigued by this, they wouldn't engage with it. I think it was because it was very fast and a little noisy not from the motor but from the toy hitting things. As far as the battery life, I can only speak to the charge that it started with out of the box as the area that contains the charging port would NOT open. I watched the video which shows the "lid" to that compartment opens very easily. The one that I have must be super glued as it will NOT open. If I had been able to recharge this toy and let my cats have more time to become comfortable with it, I feel that they would have loved it. It was easy to turn on and get the different modes. For cats, the quality was good but make sure if you have dogs that the dogs don't get it! If I had been able to charge this item, I feel that the price is within range of toys of this catergory.

This cat toy is quite fascinating. It comes with the ball with the motor that is chargeable, the attachable play piece, and the charging cord. I like that the play piece is detachable so that you don't have to worry about your cats trying to play with it while the ball is charging.The play piece is easy to attach as it has a screw-in connection. You simply twist it on to attach, and then turn the toy on and let it go. The play piece has three tails on it that have jingle bells and fuzzy balls on them.The ball itself has the covered charging port and the power button. You long press the power button to turn it on and then quick press to change between the twp play modes of fast moving or slow moving. During either mode, you can turn the bird chirping function on or off. It's nice that you can remove the outer connective pieces in order to clean the ball when necessary.I noticed that the description says that the toy is quiet so you can leave the toy running while you sleep at night. For me, this would definitely not be possible in either mode. The toy is very loud and runs into anything and everything with a bang. (The bang is slightly softer with the slow mode.) Also, the bells jingle as the toy moves, so as a light sleeper, I would not be able to sleep with the toy on.All in all, this is a fun cat toy. My cats weren't very interested when the toy was in fast mode, but they became more intrigued when I turned on the bird chirping function during the slow mode. I find the cost of $24 a bit steep, especially since the quiet aspect of the toy is not really true. However, the company sometimes offers a coupon, so you may be able to get a deal that makes the toy worth the cost.

There was a lot of observing and following before any cat approached the toy to touch it.Once bravery set in, the cats were very engaged by the toy, and it's crazed movements.I could not get the toy to chirp, not even after charging it fully with the enclosed cord. I followed the instructions in the box, but there is absolutely no chirp.I removed one star since the toy does not fulfill everything stated in the ad.Other than the lack of chirp, I find this is a great toy for cats and kittens that are confident and not afraid of wild unpredictable movements. A cat that is cautious and prefers quiet toys will not appreciate this as a more adventurous cat would.And for a kitten that is the epitome of "always on", this is a great toy for wearing out said kitten!

This ball rolls around by itself and flops around. My cat loves watching it, although it took a while for him to get used to it. I think my kid loves watching and playing with this thing even more than my cat does.It has two movement modes and can also make bird chirping noises. The battery life seems pretty good, we ran it for an hour plus and it still had charge. One thing to note is that it will pick up any hair you have on the floor, somehow it just sticks to the rubber and gets stuck around the wheel axle.
