I got my 2.4ghz band back! Hello again Smart Lights!
After a lightning storm my cable box (which was also my cable modem/wifi) had to be replaced.Sort of a downgrade. Now separate cable box and cable modem/wifi.A SMART Cable Modem. Too smart? Not smart enough? I used to have 5ghz and 2.4ghz bands.Not now. Tech support tried but there was no answer. It couldn’t just be activated. 5ghz only.Hello WiFi extender! Setup was easy. Select my 5ghz account. Type in the 5ghz’s password.Now, an additional band. 2.4ghz, with the same password but a slightly different name.WHY?My Merkury Innovations Smart Wi-Fi LED Light Bulbs! They DEMAND 2.4ghz.PS: My phone’s geeni app had to re-detect the lightbulbs and join the new wi-fi networkbut remembered their names.My phone is using the 5ghz network wifi but the bulbs still obey commandsover the 2.4ghz network somehow.

So far, so good!
I recently moved to a new home in a more rural area where the more popular internet providers don’t service. The current provider I’m with has absolutely abysmal service, and I’m only able to run one of my five devices without buffering or stuttering, despite one of them being right by the modem and connected to it via an Ethernet cable. I purchased this WiFi Range Extender in hopes of getting a better, more stable connection…the PC is hooked up to this little thing via Ethernet and—oh boy!—does this thing work! I’ve got my download speeds and a stable connection back! I like this extender, so 4 Stars for now, since this is my first day using it. If it continues to hold, then I’ll bump my rating to 5 Stars and will possible be buying more.

It’s very good I recommend you to buy it and all you need to do is have Wi-Fi and it’s gonna ask you questions and then you’re gonna have 10 times better the Wi-Fi. I have a game and people say I’m laggy and now I’m never laggy.

Don’t Rename The Wifi Extender — Setup Tip Inside!
Saved my old system! I’m using an older computer that can’t upgrade to Windows 11, and after my internet company did a major upgrade to their systems, my external USB WiFi antenna stopped working. This repeater was the perfect workaround.I connected the repeater to my computer via Ethernet and its configured to pull 2.4GHz directly from my router. It acts like a bridge, making my system think it’s wired — and it works flawlessly.Setup Tip: During setup, I made the mistake of changing the extender’s name before clicking “Apply.” That broke the connection and made the repeater invisible. If you’re setting this up, don’t rename the network extender name—resetting and starting fresh fixed everything for me. If you did this like I did, there is a reset button on the device. Just stick a paper clip or similar object in there and hold for 10 seconds until the top blinks rapidly, then let it go and start over, setting this up again to look for the Wi-Fi signal, etc. The wifi signal has the word ‘repeater’ in it; that is the default name. Hope this helps.Bottom line: If you’ve got legacy hardware or need a creative way to stay connected, this repeater is a lifesaver. Strong signal, easy setup (once you know the trick), and perfect for older systems that struggle with modern WiFi changes.

It took a while to figure out the setup…
This is kind of persnickety regarding where it needs to be to properly boost signal. The instructions are laughable, but I figured it out eventually. Now, with proper placement, it seems to be working great. No problem with brick walls or distance, as long as the distance is halfway between the modem and the item that needs boosted signal.
