We first ordered one for our Boston Mix who has developed major anxiety to storms/loud noises. He weighs about 40lbs and his chest circumference is 25″, so he is right at the top end of the Medium. It fits him perfectly, as he is barrel-chested and not very long, so there is no issue with the rubbing on his male parts. It makes him very cozy and sleepy, which does help him relax during a storm, but he still runs to hide in the closet if the thunder is loud. It hasn’t made him immune to the thunder, but I do think it keeps him comfortable. We usually leave it on him longer than necessary because he’s so cozy!We ordered one for our other dog, though, and it is crazy how calm it makes her. To the point of worrying if she’s okay! She is a Red Heeler (but she is taller and longer than most with a skinnier body), weighs 45lbs and she is significantly longer than our Boston so we ordered her a large. She is definitely on the small side for Large, it wraps around her quite far, but when we tried the medium some of the rough velcro was exposed against her skin. If she was a male the large might be too long, as it comes nearly to back legs, so depending on your dog you may need to get a smaller size and just cover any exposed velcro. Luckily, Thundershirt has a good return policy. Our Red Heeler has no problem with storms or noises, but she has constant energy and physically can not sit still. She’s 9 and still wears us out! When we put the Thundershirt on her, she is completely calm. We are realizing that energy was more of an anxious/nervous energy, and she seems to get overstimulated. Sometimes she will just sit there barking at us because we aren’t doing what she wants, or aren’t in the right place (may be a herding dog thing). With her shirt on she will sweetly lay with her head in our laps and take a nap, which has never happened. I would never have thought to get her a shirt for nervous energy since she didn’t show anxiety triggers, but now I am recommending it to everyone! It helps calm her down when she is overstimulated and helps us not go crazy. We’ve had it for a couple of weeks and we are still in shock every single time because the change is unbelievable.I chose the sport version because I did not want the dogs to overheat, especially since anxiety causes our Boston to be hotter anyway. It has a bit of stretch and breathes, and it is very well made. When you have the proper size it is designed to not have any of the hook side of the Velcro against their skin. I especially love the extra flap on top for tightening. I looked at other anxiety shirts and reviews said how hard they were to get on since you just had one shot to get it correct. With this, I loosely fasten around their neck just so it doesn’t fall off, then I align and velcro the shirt together under the chest/stomach. The flap allows me to then adjust and make it more snug after it is already secured, rather than wrestling with pulling the fabric correctly and keeping it in the right place. Finally, I redo the neck, making sure it sits low on the chest and isn’t too tight.I HIGHLY recommend this for any dogs that have that nervous energy or get overstimulated, that is where it has been most effective for us. I do suggest it for more “typical” anxieties as well, it has helped cut out the anxious pacing and shaking, but it’s not a miracle cure (at least for us) that makes them immune to those triggers. Definitely worth trying, we are kicking ourselves for not getting one years ago!

Edit: Less than a month of wearing this and the stitching has come undone. Love the product, but the quality has me debating whether or not it’s worth it to purchase this product again.2 1/2 year old German shepherd mum here… My girl has high anxiety and pants, paces, and barks all the time and usually requires medication to calm down, which I hate giving to her. She put this on and instantly there was a reduction in all of her anxiety behaviors, no more panting and pacing. Took her out for a walk, and while still excited she was much calmer. It was like she remembered her obedience classes all of a sudden. After 24 hours she is already very attached and gets visibly upset when taken off. I wish we had gotten this sooner and it will be a mandatory item for any future pups I have. I’m excited to see how we can conquer her anxieties with this. The fushia color is so vibrant and great for visibility. Even if the calming effect didn’t work, I’d still have kept it for a hiking vest. We played fetch with it on with no issues and she stood out like a highlighter in our yard. The material is soft and durable, held up in the rain, and doesn’t hold dog hair either. The Velcro surprised me because the design minimizes the amount of dog hair that it captures there as well. The fit is absolutely perfect. My girl is on the smaller side for a GSD at 72lbs with a neck measurement of around 16″ and chest depth of about 30″, and 28″ long back. We got an XL and I couldn’t have asked for a better fit. If your pups chest is deeper than about 34″, I would recommend the next size.I hope that knowing her measurements will help her GSD cousins and other deep chested or long bodied pups in the future.

I have a miniature pincher who is 7 pounds and terrified of rain, thunder, and lightning. She also has separation anxiety. I purchased this in an xx small and it fits good. While I was out, it started to rain and thunder and lightning today. Immediately came home and put it on her as she was panting and jumping in my lap and jump out, pant and shaking! I put it on her as tight as I could get it. She still seems nervous, but the panting stopped and she is not shaking as bad. So overall, it’s a great buy and does work.

I got this for my pitbull, Nala who just turned 10 and has horrible anxiety. For years her anxiety was manageable, but with her getting older and being that we live in a very populated area and on a very busy street with loud noises, it was getting to the point Nala was just shaking or destroying items in the house trying to find small places to hide when we are at work. I couldn’t see her go through this anymore and began searching for solutions. I remembered hearing about these vests, and they remind me of the ones many of my students wear when they are dysregulated (Im a special needs teacher), so I decided what would it hurt to try one for Nala.Instantly when I put this on her and gave her an extra little hug her body just seemed to relax. We have had no more issues during the work day of Nala scratching or literally eating holes in doors to get into an area she feels would be more comfy to her (a bedroom and 2x she got herself locked in the bathroom some how and ate a hole through the door to get out. We are still not sure how this happened 2x). Now Nala along with our other pittie, Nina are back to being little couch potatoes while we are at work, and having plenty of energy to go run with me and my kids when we get home from work and school. Every morning before I leave for work Nala let’s me put her pink jacket on, she gets an extra hug, I put her and Nina’s favorite cartoons on, and see her body no longer tense up that I’m leaving, but instead goes back to her favorite recliner, gets comfy, and goes back to sleep.I highly recommend anyone giving this jacket a chance if you have a “Nervous Nelly” pup like I do.

I was skeptical that this would have any value, but indeed it does help my dog (44 pound labradoodle). It does not completely alleviate her stress but I genuinely believe she is better with it on. Also it is very easy to put on and take off. I am not sure but I think she enjoys wearing it because when I go to put it on her she is happy and wags her tail, but she may be mistaking it for the harness I put on her when I take her for walks in the woods. Either way it is easy to put on and seems beneficial. The sizing seems accurate though if you dog is right on the edge of two sizes you should probably go to the next size up. I bought the medium for my 44 pound labradoodle and it is a good size for her.

TLDR: Freaking amazing, 100/5I would give this 100 stars if I could. My dog Boone was re-homed to me in January 2026. I was originally fostering him until he could find his forever home, but we bonded quickly and I couldn’t give him up.A few weeks later, I started noticing paint chips on the floor from the front door, so I set up a camera to make sure he was okay while he was home alone. I realized that after I left for the day, he was trying to come after me. He is insanely smart, and if it wasn’t for my deadbolt, he probably would’ve gotten the door open. His previous mom and I are still in contact, so I reached out to talk to her about it. She had never experienced this with him. He’s had lots of professional training, but he has confinement anxiety, so I knew sticking him in a crate was not the solution to our problem. I was honestly starting to worry my apartment was too small for him.As moving isn’t an option, on the hunt I went for ways to help him. This is my first dog, and honestly, his anxiety was making mine worse. I tried calming collars, blocking the door, puzzle feeders, longer morning walks, pet diffusers (don’t buy those, they’re trash), anti-scratch tape for the door, calming treats, and two different types of baby-proof door knob covers. (He quickly figured out how to remove the first one, so I had to buy a harder version.) I was trying everything I could think of and had pretty much decided I was going to take him to the vet for anxiety meds if it kept escalating. He wasn’t destructive, just scratching and trying to open the door in a panic after I would leave for the day. Aside from one severe panic attack in April where my windowsill became a casualty, he would eventually settle. But it got to the point where I would be getting ready for work and putting makeup on, and he would already be trembling because he knew I was about to leave. After the windowsill incident, I panic-ordered the ThunderShirt. I had been researching it and was on the fence, but I caved, and I’m SO glad I did.The first day we used it, my dog — who normally took anywhere from 30-50 minutes to settle — only pawed at the door a few times after I left and fully settled within 20 minutes. I kept using it as part of our morning routine, and it continues to be a lifesaver. He was still whining a little after I left, but settling way faster, and the pawing/trying the knob has completely stopped. Our first day with the ThunderShirt was April 13, and today, May 6, 2026, he didn’t go to the door at all. He walked straight to the couch and happily potatoed there all day.I genuinely cannot explain the relief I feel knowing he’s less anxious and more comfortable when I’m gone. I am SO thankful this works. If you’ve been on the fence about trying this, just do it.(He’s a 5-year-old pit-lab mix, in case you were wondering.)

Fits OK for German shorthair pointer. Which is hard because they have a large chest and tiny waist/hips. Soft. Good quality. Easy to set up. Dog looks comfortable and does not appear itchy. Helps with anxiety from storms.

This vest is life changing. I was skeptical but it works with in seconds of putting it on. Woke up middle of the night to thunderstorm and dog shaking, pacing and panting uncontrollably. I put it on her and she calmed immediately. Within minutes she laid back down and went to sleep even while the storm continued. Purchased a 2nd one to take to work since she goes to work with me every day.

My 7 year old dog suddenly started having severe anxiety episodes where she would run and hide in the bathroom, closet, under the table. I wasn’t able to get her into the vet for a few days but was desperate to find something to help her. When I put the thundershirt on her, there was almost an immediate change in her behavior. She settled and was able to sleep. She didn’t have any more episodes of the frantic running and hiding. It is so easy to put on her, which is another great thing – nothing is going over her head, the straps go around her neck and the fabric wraps around her belly. Much happier pup and momma!

Ok, delivery was not good, they swapped my order with my neighbors. But whatever. Let me say, this product is amazing. There was an instant change in my dog. Absolutely recommend. I was upset though, they sent the wrong color. It’s a gray color, she’s in love with it I’m keeping it, but I wish something could have been done about the color. But again, product is great.

Now and then, I have a dog who is scared of thunderstorms. At the recommendation of my dog sitter, I purchased a thundershirt, and it made a huge difference in my dog’s behavior. She went from frantically pawing at me to shivering just a tiny bit, to just denning and waiting out the storm, snuggled in blankets.I have two new dogs. One does not react to the thunderstorms, but the other one does. She is larger than my other dog was, so, I purchased a second thundershirt. It fits very well, and she looks adorable in the new fuschia color. The fit matters, so measure your dog’s chest and neck before making a purchase.I will be using the thundershirt during the upcoming holidays too because I have neighbors who allow their children to set off fire crackers for hours on end.

this is the first review I’ve ever written in my life but seriously I regret not getting this for my dog sooner. She was terrified of storms- she would pant and hide for hours even after. Now she’s literally completely calm. I’ve had it for months and it’s an immediate difference. She’s not stressed and just is completely calm it’s a literal miracle. Also the other day I was asleep and she woke me up and brought the thunder shirt to put on her when it was raining. No joke.

Easy to put on our dog who now actually seems to like wearing it. Hard to say if it provides any real relief from her fright but that could just be because she has such a strong fear of storms.

It worked!! I cannot believe this vest worked. I definitely did not believe in this product before this very first use. A big storm started: blowing rain making tons of noise, thunder, lightning. We don’t have covers on our massive sliders and Alfie typically wants to be in the darkest room while he stresses during the entire storm. We put the vest on him after the storm had just started, and then wrapped him in a blanket. I could feel him calm down within 5 or so minutes. Then, he fell asleep. I recommend this vest to anyone looking for this type of help.

Has really calmed my girl through the storms! My girl knows her jacket helps her and lays down so I can put it on. She definitely doesn’t run from it like when we first got it. The only thing I get concerned about is her getting too hot because she’s a long haired dog. She’s had it on for almost 2 days now because of the weather. It is a thin material. I am glad this is helping, it’s easy to use, and we don’t have to use medication all the time.

This has been so wonderful for my Dalmatian that is afraid of thunder. Only recommendation would be to put it on as soon as you know it’s coming. It takes her about 10 minutes to calm down once it’s on.
