One of my smart buys
I’m a frequent flyer between America and China due to business consideration. I usually buy some home and kitchen supplies for my apartment, so that it feels like I’m still at home. I hesitated for a while before placing order from this seller, cause I was kind of worried that the engraving might not work. But, I was so happy the time I opened the package. It is just fantastic! The engraving is beautiful and deep, so I have no problem to make clear patterned cookies even without too much pressure. The cookie cutters are also very useful, however I already have some much bigger. lol. It’s also very nice of the seller to prepare two special cookie recipes, I prefer the lemon sugar tea cookies. In a word, it’s one of my smart buys.

Paisley yes, but also has snowflakes
Purchased for pattern on wedding cake fondant. Surprised at arrival that the paisley pattern includes numerous snowflakes, making it a Christmas design. Couldn’t tell from ad/photo. I like it, but could not use Christmas design for that application.

This rolling pin is awesome!
Absolutely love this rolling pin! It was easy to use and the impression stayed after baking. Instead of rolling the dough out with a regular rolling pin first, I just patted the dough and used the paisley rolling pin to flatten it more and it left this beautiful pattern. You have to apply more pressure as you roll, otherwise the design will be faint. I also dusted the rolling pin with flour very lightly. Not only is this functional but it’s also a beautiful addition to my kitchen!

Not for the easily frustrated.
I love the rolling pin but it has flaws. Meaning that even using a stiff cookie dough it will still stick. I found out if I cover it throughly with flour that I can get a print on the cookies. But still can’t press hard enough for it to be a strong visual after baking. Maybe if it were carved a little deeper.Cleaning was a breeze with a small brush and soap and water.

I was unhappy at how easily the dough stuck to the roller despite spraying with non stick spray. Perhaps next time I will use oil. Otherwise I really liked the design it left.

Nice quailty
The pin is very durable and sturdy, something you can had down for generations. When rolling it made a clean, nice impression in the dough, nothing stuck or remained in the design. My only complaint is within the instructions on preparing it for the first time. The instructions tell you to soak it in water for several hours and then use a cooking oil to season it. First off, soaking wood for long periods of time for this application is not wise. This opens it up for warping, splitting and breaking down the wood. Second, cooking oil will turn rancid. So, don’t soak the wood in water, use wood cutting board conditioner or mineral oil.

Good but leaves lines on the high points from the lazer burns
I oiled this first and let it dry one day before use and that helped keep clay from sticking. It works perfectly fine, but the lines left from the lazer burn when inscribing the texture leave lines on the high points in the clay. It makes it look rugged. Not the effect I had hoped for. If the burn was deeper it would have been great.

Too shallow!
I’m disappointed in the reindeer pattern. It is so beautiful, but it is so shallow, you can barely see anything once it’s baked. I’ve used this particular recipe with other embossed pins wonderfully, but the depth is just not there for a clear pattern on this pin.

Doesn’t roll pattern into dough as expected
It didn’t work as well as I thought it would. The embossed pattern ended up puffy and looking like uneven bumps. It also did not come with the extra items shown in the picture.

This is so cute! The wood is nice and smooth. It’s a medium size. Some would say small, but for my purposes, I am using it for clay so for me the size great! Also included was a small-ish circle cookie cutter set and a silicone basting brush. Shipped quickly, but was delayed by our store in shipping, as usual lately.
